Breeding Philosophy
My goal is to produce athletically built, small to medium-sized dogs within the standard. As an avid hunter, I am striving to produce the best upland wild bird dogs. They must also be very strong in the water for retrieving waterfowl, while still keeping a high level of motivation for blood tracking and hunting hair. My dogs must have a great nose and a lot of point and drive, allowing them to excel at all forms of hunting. Mental stability is key because a dog needs to be able to handle any situation in life. It is especially important for these companions to turn on drive in the field, and are equally able to turn it off while at home.
My litters are all whelped at my home. The pups are regularly socialized with people and other dogs, and I expose the puppies to various situations and game.
When choosing a stud, I will have seen the male personally to evaluate his hunting abilities, making sure they are up to my standards. I will preferably have spent time training and/or hunting with as many dogs on his Ahnentafel as possible.
My goal is to produce puppies with a ton of talent, friendly and stable personalities, and great form and hair. By following these practices and breeding for these traits, I truly hope to better the breed and always have the best hunting dogs available.
